Pro-life a) Do you consider yourself pro-choice or pro-life?

Yes d) Should abortion be legal when the life of the woman is endangered?

Yes f) Do you support requiring parental consent before an abortion is performed on a minor?
No g) Do you support sexual education programs that include information on abstinence, contraceptives, and HIV/STD prevention methods?
No h) Do you support abstinence-only sexual education programs?
While I do not believe that our laws will change, my opinion is that abortion should only be allowed when it medically endangers the life of the mother. Studies conclude that pregnancy from rape occurs in a maximum of 2.2% of victims and incest less than 1%. Rape and incest is not the fault of the unborn child or the victim and both should be treated with compassion and dignity. I don't believe that sex education is the responsibility of the schools.

Emphasis on personal responsibility. Food Stamps and welfare programs should be short term not a way of life.
Taxes, fees and over reaching regulations are stifling our economy. People need to be able to keep more of their hard earned money. Businesses are over taxed and over regulated to the point of making it hard to succeed and create jobs.
We can eliminate some government agencies like OLCC. Government never does anything more efficiently than the private sector.

No d) Do you support providing financial incentives to the private sector for the purpose of job creation?
No e) Do you support increased spending on infrastructure projects for the purpose of job creation?
No f) Do you support providing direct financial assistance to homeowners facing foreclosure?
The unemployment system provides no incentive to displaced workers when it continues beyond 26 weeks. The incentives that the private sector needs to create jobs are permanent reductions in taxes, fees and regulations on. Infrastructure projects are temporary jobs, we need permanent jobs.

Yes b) Do you support requiring public schools to administer high school exit exams?
Yes c) Do you support using a merit pay system for teachers?
Yes d) Do you support state funding for charter schools?
No e) Do you support the state government providing college students with financial aid?
No f) Should illegal immigrants who graduate from Oregon high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities?
Education standards should be decided by the states. ESL programs are a failure and there is no incentive to move these students out of the program because the schools get extra funding for them.
No a) Do you support state funding for the development of alternative energy?
No b) Do you support state funding for the development of traditional domestic energy sources (e.g. coal, natural gas, oil)?

No e) Do you support state funding for open space preservation?

Environmental regulations aimed at reducing the effects of climate change are a scheme to redistribute wealth. Climate change is nothing more than naturally occurring cycles in the earths temperature.

No b) Do you support requiring background checks on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows?
Yes c) Do you support allowing individuals to carry concealed guns?

Yes b) Do you support expanding access to health care through commercial health insurance reform?
Yes c) Do you support interstate health insurance compacts?

Yes e) Do you support monetary limits on damages that can be collected in malpractice lawsuits?
No f) Do you support continuing to allow physician-assisted suicide in Oregon?
g) Do you support allowing doctors to prescribe marijuana to their patients for medicinal purposes?
Health care reform should be left to the private sector. Over reaching government regulations are a huge factor in the increase in medical costs. People should be able to purchase insurance from companies outside of Oregon and policies should be individualized. Health Savings Accounts should be encouraged.
Yes a) Should marriage only be between one man and one woman?
Yes b) Should Oregon allow same-sex couples to form domestic partnerships?
Yes c) Do you support state funding for stem cell research?
No d) Do you support state funding for embryonic stem cell research?

No f) Do you support the inclusion of sexual orientation in Oregon's anti-discrimination laws?
No g) Do you support the inclusion of gender identity in Oregon's anti-discrimination laws?
State marriage licenses are strictly secular. Let's concede marriage to religious institutions and let them decide for themselves what a marriage is. Let government regulate the institution of civil partnership. Marriage licenses didn't exist prior to the Civil War and weren't firmly established until the early 1900's The state governments appropriated or usurped control of marriages in secular form.
My top priority would be to reduce the size and scope of government; personal responsibility over government dependency has to be emphasized. We need to end fraud and abuse in our entitlement programs and they need to be temporary, not a way of life. Finally, I would work towards a voucher system for schools that allows parents to choose the best school for their child whether it be private, charter, or public. This would be a huge savings to taxpayers and create the kind of competition that is necessary to provide the highest quality of education.
